Good Day,
I am looking to assist a local elementary school provide wireless access to their wired lan from their new portable classrooms. As it is a school their equipment budget is low and my time is on a volunteer basis.
The portables are going to be all within a line of site (some portables may obscure others) within an approximately 90 degree slice from the projected location of the AP (Cisco 1200 802.11g if possible). All will be within 250 to 350' of the AP. If needed an external antenna can be installed (with a lightning arrestor).
Main question: Will the signal from the AP be able to penetrate the portables so that the students and teachers would be able to use wireless PCI and or cardbus adapters for the computer equipment to obtain connectivity?
If not, what other inexpensive solutions might you suggest. (Please try to stay away from cheap equipment!)
The students and teacher of the school (along with me) appreciate all suggestions.
Thanks.
