Question about FUS 1.8.0.0

I have a production 2504 WLC that I have been asked to upgrade from 7.0.240.0 to 7.4.121.0. According to the Release Notes for Cisco Unified Wireless Network Field Upgrade Software, Release 1.8.0.0, the FUS 1.8.0.0 must be installed to used certain features. However,  the release notes state that the following components are upgraded: 

•Field Recovery Image is upgraded to runtime image version

•Bootloader is upgraded to 1.0.18

•Offline Field Diagnostics is upgraded to 0.9.28

My controller already has:

boot loader 1.0.18

Field Recovery Image version 7.4.1.30 (the release notes example show this version as the upgrade)

Firmware version PIC 16.0

I don't know how to tell which Offline Field Diagnostics version I have.

Can anyone tell me if I would still need to install the FUS 1.8.0.0?

Hi

Paste the sh sysinfo output from WLC.

Yes you need to install the FUS seperately.(YOu can alos go for 1.9 version)

Hi, 

Right now you have : 

Product Version.................................. 7.0.240.0
Bootloader Version............................... 1.0.18
Field Recovery Image Version..................... 7.4.1.30

you have 7.0.240.0 version on WLC.

Try to update to 7.4.121.0 to the WLC first and check  which version FUS you have with this image.

If its too old then you can seperately upgarde the 1.9 version.

Make sure to take a downtime window of atleast 60 minutes (wlc software upgrade + FUS upgrade).

Yes it seems the 1.8.0.0 would be a waste of time since I already have the 7.4.1.30 recovery image and the 1.0.18 bootloader. 

Is there no command line output that would show me what FUS is installed?

Since I am doing this remotely without a console connection, I won't be able to see the process during the upgrade to 7.4.121.0

After software upgarde you can run the command:

sh sysinfo

It will show you the version of FUS.
