"350 workgroup bridge" vs "350 wireless bridge" IOS upgrade

Can a "350 wireless bridge" be upgraded to IOS ?

From what I gather through trial & error and reading, the "350 workgroup bridge" can be upgraded to IOS but not the "350 wireless bridge".

Not knowing the diff, I tried the "350 workgroup bridge" IOS upgrade on my "350 wireless bridge" units and had failures then had to reload the VXworks back on using the serial port.

What is strange is the VXworks for a "350 workgroup bridge" does appear to load and run on a "350 wireless bridge" -and- the "350 wireless bridge" VXworks runs on the "350 wireless bridge".

Is there a difference in the motherboard electronics between the "350 workgroup bridge" and the "350 wireless bridge"?

Is there a trick to getting IOS to install on a "350 wireless bridge"?

When I try installing the "350 workgroup bridge" VXworks to IOS upgrade on a "350 wireless bridge" I get a serial port console message stating "Invalid or missing installation key (BR350 not supported)"

Because my "350 wireless bridge" runs the "350 workgroup bridge" VXworks, I assume the hardware has to be very close if not 100% the same. I suspect there is some type of a software key in flash preventing the "350 wireless bridge" from being upgraded to IOS.

Your ideas and help are welcome.

I think you are right here - basically the only difference between the two devices is that the workgroup bridge is limited to a certain number of MAC addresses on the wired side... It's intended to connect a 'workgroup' of wired clients to a wireless network...

So the hardware will be the same; the licensing is the difference...
