The AP3802 can't join back up WLC(C9800-80) in N+1mode

The AP3802 can't join the backup WLC(C9800-80) when primary WLC down, The AP Join profile was configured with primary WLC and backup WLC, the AP had been associated with AP join profile. logically, the AP should join backup WLC when primary WLC, but it is not working. The version of WLC is 16.12.02s. I configured the same site tag, policy tag and RF tag between primary and backup wlc, it is N+1 mode. I checked IP reachable between AP and WLC, what cause is it possible? The information from log as follow:

So is the issue with all access points that are 3800’s? Do you have any other aps joined to the backup? You try to factory reset an ap to see if it would join the backup?

Hi Scott,
Customer only purchased AP3802I, they were testing N+1 HA with the AP3802I, but it was not working. Do you think it is AP issue or WLC configuration issue?

Well typically I would try to have aps join both, if aps can join bot, then the issue must be with the one of few aps. Why not export the config on both and run a diff to make sure there isn’t something missing. I’m assuming the wireless interface is configure properly on the backup and there is a valid certificate?

Hi Scott,
Thanks your information, I try it again.

1. I configured the AP Join profile for CAPWAP “High availability”, I think AP should get the configuration when it is booting. But look like it doesn’t work. Have you tried it. Is this feature not working in this image now?
2. I configured high available parameter on AP directly, it can works.
3. Could we configure AP HA parameter by csv files? Do you have csv template for AP configuration?
