TPC and fixed power

Hi,

" Fixed—This option disables all TPC functions, and is not recommended. This is typically disabled upon performing a manual site survey and subsequently configuring each AP power settings individually. Though unrelated, this is often done alongside disabling the DCA algorithm, as well. "

So in what circumstances do we need to go for fixed ?

Thanks

one case you may need this, when you have no nearby AP's in one location and you want from the AP will go for max power directly then you can configure this AP statically with full power from once it joined the controller. by default the AP needs around 6 iterations ( 6 times the value configured for the TPC to run) to be in the steady state status.

I don't see any other situations to have a fixed power level.

Kind Regards

Hi Mohammad ,

"by default the AP needs around 6 iterations ( 6 times the value configured for the TPC to run) to be in the steady state status."

value means Power Threshold ?

Thank you

Hi,

The Note that you have I not complete, the TPC will be responsible on turning the power down, the increase of the power level is part of the coverage hole detection algorithm, so there is no issue with this part.

For the iteration, by default the period for changing the power level is 10 minutes, so when you bring the system up, you need one hour approximately to be on the steady state power level for your AP's ( which is 6 * "period of TCP".

Kind Regards

Hi,

" The TPC algorithm is only responsible for turning power levels down."

if TPC algorithm only responsible for turning power level down , then what is the issue of setting to fixed
