Tx Control Power

The RF transmit power is changing every time the algorithm runs, is it normal or should it be steady?

This is happening in a network with a 2504 Controller and almost 60 APs.

It should be relatively steady if RF environment is good. How frequently is it changing? By default DCA interval is 10min, I would increase that to 6-8 hrs to minimize frequent changes.

 

You can post "show advanced 802.11a summary" and "show advanced 802.11b summary" output before and after a change occur.

Here is the output, as well, I noticed that APs that are changing their Tx Power are the same, I mean, algorithm runs then they change, then the algorithm runs again and the AP comes back to the original value.. and they are swapping  almost every time the algorithm runs.

I'm focusing in the 2.4 band since in the 5 GHz just 1 AP is changing:

The APs that are changing are: AP50, 60, 57, 28, 51, 9 and 41

Performed the commands you told me, and I found that 7 APs (out of 60) are changing their Tx Power each time that RRM runs the algorithm, the APs change back and forward one level of power.

You will find that the channels will change more frequently in the 2.4GHz band compare to the 5GHz due to the limited amount of channels available in 2.4GHz vs 5GHz.
As Rashika mentioned adjusting your DCA would be a good idea, I would also advise making sure the interference levels are not too high in your environment as it sounds like the WLC is trying to avoid channels with high interference and use this opportunity when RRM cycle is due.
You can verify this by running the following command on the AP's:
show ap auto-rf 802.11b <ap_name>

Thanks Jurgen. What’s changing is the power levels, I guess maybe there are many 2.4 radios around.. I’ll need to go on site and take a look, as well locate them in the floor plan.

Typically you should set your RRM to 24hrs. I have seen that the best where you anchor the change also at midnight or another time where the change would have the least impact for 24x7 sites. I think you are in a good spot, to go out and identify the ap locations, but also verify that the ap's are in the correct location if this was never verified after installation. You should then be able to look at the birds eye view of the floor plan and determine which ap's should have 2.4ghz disabled if that is also in your plans.
