I have Cisco Wireless Controller: 4402. Current Software Version: 5.0.148.2. I want to update current software version to AIR-WLC4400-K9-7-0-230-0

I download two files from Cisco website: AIR-WLC4400-K9-7-0-230-0.aes and AIR-WLC4400-K9-7-0-230-0-ER.aes.

I try to firstly upload the AIR-WLC4400-K9-7-0-230-0.aes to the controller by tftpd32 or 3CDaemon. However, when the data has been transferred to 66MB. Stop. I get the error from tftpd32

"

Connection received from 10.203.220.200 on port 7714 [28/02 20:20:14.195]

Read request for file <./AIR-WLC4400-K9-7-0-230-0.aes>. Mode octet [28/02 20:20:14.196]

Using local port 53336 [28/02 20:20:14.197]

File <.\AIR-WLC4400-K9-7-0-230-0.aes> : error 10054 in system call recv An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. [28/02 20:20:52.521]

"

I know maybe it is because of big size file.

What shall I do to handle this problem.

5.0 has the large tftp fix, so you should be able to directly upgrade.

I would try rebooting the WLC, then doing the transfer again.

the version of tftpd32 I use is 4.0. Where can I download the 5.0? I google it. Not available.

tonight I will reboot the controller to have a test

If you still have issues after the reboot use 3cdeamon I use 3cdeamon with no issues.

I reboot the WLC. However,  it is still at the issue.

I tried 3cdeamon. I get the error code "66MB, Got socket error. Aborting!Code=10054"

I tried tftpd32. Also problem.

I reboot the controller. it is still at the issue.

I hope you downloaded the image (AIR-WLC4400-K9-7-0-240-0.aes) from cisco.com & using the following command syntax (If you are using WLC CLI). Keep your image in FTP/TFTP root folder.

transfer download datatype code

transfer download mode tftp

transfer download serverip

transfer download path .

transfer download filename AIR-WLC4400-K9-7-0-240-0.aes

transfer download start

If you still getting this issue, you can try FTP, instead of TFTP & see if that helps

transfer download datatype code

transfer download mode ftp

transfer download serverip

transfer download path .

transfer download filename AIR-WLC4400-K9-7-0-240-0.aes

transfer download username

transfer download password

transfer download start.
