Hi,

I want to upgrade a 5508 WLC from version 6.0.196.0 to the most recent 7.4or 7.3  is it ok to skip so many versions, will this cause an issue?

Thanks,

No, you'll need to a staged upgrade.  You need to go to a 7.0 release first, then up to 7.4.  You'll also want to do the FUS upgrade as well.

thanks so if I upgrade to

AIR-CT5500-K9-7-0-98-218.aes for example and then to

AIR-CT5500-K9-7-4-100-0.aes this will be fine?

Does the

AIR-CT5500-K9-7-4-100-0.aes version include / cater for the FUS you have highlighted? thanks

No... The FUS image is 1.7.0.0 and its in the download section. You need to install this and it takes 35-40 minutes to complete. So don't freak out when you can't ping the WLC for that long.

Install the FUS after the image is installed. But you can perform this from the CLI also.

so do steps 3 and 4 then 1 and 2. Sorry really want to make sure I do this in the right order the first time.. I thought the FUS image was required because I'm going from 6 to 7. Now I'm just confused. Really appreciate your guys feedback

1) download FUS image

2) install FUS image via CLI on current 6.0.196.0 version

6.0.196.0#sthash.SmfTLw5B.dpu

3) download and install any ver 7.0. image install via GUI

4) download and install version 7.4 via GUI

Okay let's make it simple. When you are done upgrading the WLC to v7.4, then install the FUS. That will be your last step.
