We have a wireless lan controller that has a primary windows 2012 dhcp server and a backup windows 2012 dhcp server. Individually each of these dhcps servers work with the wlc, however if the primary dhcp server goes down, our windows laptops are unable to obtain an ip address from the secondary dhcp server.
Our smartphone can obtain an ip address though. We looked into it and it appears it has something to do with windows will stop trying to get an ip address after 60 seconds. Usually we would make a registry entry, however we use our wireless for users personal laptops which would not work. Is there anyway to lessen the time it takes for a WLC to try to connect to a dhcp server before it gives up and goes to the backup dhcp server?
