I suggest to learn the WLAN fundamentals either through video tutorials of CCNA Wireless from CBT Nugggets (https://www.cbtnuggets.com) where the tutor is clearly explaining how RF works using good examples or  you can refer CCNA Wireless PDF from Cisco press author which is available in the internet.
