WLAN in Russion Federation

Dear WLAN administrators,

my name is Dieter and i am administrator of a couple of WLAN controllers, some hundred access points and switches too.

That's my 1st post and i hope i choosed the appropriate forum.

We like to provide our standardized Company WLAN at some Locations in Russian Federation.

Because of requirements to use LDPE-Images on local installed WLCs i thought about installing access points which become operated by flex WLC in Germany with NON-LDPE-image (RU Country Code enabled).

Does someone know if that would be legal?

Any idea appreciated -

Rgds.-

Dieter

As far as I'm aware, the APs must be operating an LDPE image.  So the answer to the question is a resounding yes.

How many APs will be deployed in Russia?

Dear Leo,

thanks for your comment.

We will have about 15 APs in Russia.

Meanwhile i found 2 options which confuse me a little bit:

1.) ordering an WLC with IOS option LDPE for operation of WLC and APs IN Russia

2.) installing an "data encryption licence" on existing WLC in Europe (for free, can become downloaded in licence center), afterwards in advanced tab of SSID disabling of data encryption should be possible.

I am just trying 2.) because i am looking for an fast solution but what is the difference between LDPE-IOS and Standard-IOS with additional installed "data encryption licence"?

Best regards -

Dieter

LDPE is just a Russian standard.

Hi,

I am not able to see any LDPE image for 2504, 3504 and 5520 WLC, please advise.
