WLC 2504 5Ghz Enabled SSIDs Not Visible in Available Networks

I using WLC 2504 with Access Points AIR-CAP2702E-F-K9. My office need 5Ghz enable, because 2.4Ghz is so crowded at here. I created a new WLAN (SSID) with Radio 802.11a only to force all the laptops to use 5Ghz band to check what it makes difference. The SSID is not visible as a available network at the client if the SSID radio is set to '802.11a only' though it is marked to broadcast ssid. 802.11a is also enabled in sections of Wireless. My regulatory domain is -F Indonesia. Please give me suggestion to solve it. Thanks.

Make sure that you have the correct antennal that supports 5ghz connected to the ap.  Since your ap is a "E" (external), just need to validate you have a supported antenna connected or else you will not see the SSID unless you are a few inches away.

Take a look at the following command:

show ap channel <ap-name> or show advanced 802.11a channel

Make sure you see the channels in the allowed list.

I would verify

  • Client capabilities to make sure it supports 5 GHz band
  • If you have AP groups - Make sure to add the newly created 5 GHz only SSID to the AP group as well
  • Disable the other SSIDs and see if the client connects to the new SSID

Indonesia Regulatory Domain is "-F", Thailand is "-S" and Vietnam is "-E".

What happens if you ONLY have Indonesia configured?
