WLC 5508 HA

Hi.

I have 2 WLCs (AIR-CT5508-50-K9 and AIR-CT5508-HA-K9) with license HA AP SSO, my question is, Can i use the redundancy layer 3?. I review the documents but i see the deployment is in layer 2.

Thanks.

HA SSO requires layer 2 connectivity between the primary and secondary controller. This requirement is for connecting the RP ports (should be separate unrouted VLAN) but also for the other connected networks.

In case of a failure the other unit will take over the MAC and IP address to be hit less and that requires the to unites to be layer 2 adjacent. If that is not possible the two unites should be placed more closely together or you should create another pear of controllers and configure those as secondary controllers for your access-points.
