High level i do not see the issue, they can stay on the same VLAN, also easy deployment.

But again how big was the deployment ?

I personally take this way, Most of the WLC installed in the  Core Infratructure, so they will be different VLAN.

AP will be connected to access switch, so they use different VLAN (if you have large deployment)

But high level both feasible,  depends on requirement you need to choose right direction.

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

thx Balaji for your inputs. I have a task to deploy WLC 9800-40. Do i need to configure WMI (wireless mgmt interface) on both active and standby in RMI+RP setup?
