WLC cannot support "config ap max-count" command

We can find the " config ap max-count count" command in command guide. As below:

config ap max-count
To configure the maximum number of access points supported by the Cisco Wireless LAN Controller (WLC),
use the config ap max-count command.
config ap max-count number
Syntax Description number Number of access points supported by the Cisco WLC.
Command Default None
Command History Release Modification
This command wasintroduced in a release earlier than
Release 7.6.

Usage Guidelines The access point count of the Cisco WLC license overrides this count if the configured value is greater than
the access point count of the license. A value of 0 indicatesthat there is no restriction on the maximum number
of access points. If high availability is configured, you must reboot both the active and the standby Cisco
WLCs after you configure the maximum number of access points supported by the Cisco WLC.
Examples The following example shows how to configure the number of access points supported by the Cisco WLC:
(Cisco Controller) >config ap max-count 100

But we cannot do it on any WLC over release7.6.

And " Contoller > General" in GUI, i cannot find "Maximum Allowed AP" field. For this ,i cannot find any bug to explaination this issue.

I think it was availabe only on few software versions(i think 7.5) but now its not anymore supported for newer versions.

As per my info, you will not able to configure(max-count) anymore either from the CLI or GUI. 

Cisco must update their documents/release notes.

There should be no such mistakes, but this command is still described in multiple Cisco configuration and command documents. Even if it is not modified in the documentation, I think a bug is needed to explain this.

A question related to this:
WLC model:WLC5508

Maximum number of APs supported.................. 500

(Cisco Controller) >show ap maximum

Max APs Supported................................ 125
Max AP Groups Supported.......................... 500
Max AP join limit................................ 25

(Cisco Controller) >show license capacity

We all know that WLC5508 can support 500 APs, but here it shows that 125 APs are supported.
What is going on? Or can it be configured？

Max ap support depends on your license. The max overall for a 5508 is 500. What are you trying to accomplish?

The above information is my other WLC. We also have a controller with more than 250 licenses installed, but we can only see a maximum of 250 APs. I also know that WLC5508 can support up to 500AP, so this is where I am puzzled. Details are as follows:

I would like to know if there is an older WLC5508 that can only support up to 250 APs, compared to the newer WLC5508 that can support 500 APs?

So now there are documents saying that WLC5508 supports 250 APs, and there are documents saying that WLC5508 supports 500 APs. So I suspect that there is a difference between the new 5508 and the old 5508. I wonder if this is the case?

I found in Release 7.0.98.0, this version starts to support up to 500 APs.
