Hi,

I have two 4500x in VSS, in the first Cat4500x there is the WLC Primary and in the second Cat4500x there is the WLC-HA.

Both WLC must be on the same etherchannel or can be in a different ethernchannel?

Regards..

Mirko Severi.

Hi,

Configuring Link Aggregation (or  LAG) in a WLC(4400/5508) is equivalent to configuring Etherchannel.   It's recommended to use LAG if, for example, your WLC is connected to a  2975 or 3750/3750-E switch stack or a 6500VSS.

Hi,

Actually I am referring to the two scenarios that carry the diagram.

Both are WLC in LAG but the doubt is if I place them on two different etherchannel (scenario 1) or the same (scenario 2).

Hi,

I did some tests.

With the same channel-group (scenario 2) the WLC-HA doesn't find the peer while with the different channel-group (scenario 1) the WLC-HA finds the peer correctly.

Starting Redundancy: Starting Peer Search Timer of 120 seconds

Found the Peer. Starting Role Determination...
Standby started downloading configurations from Active...

Standby comparing its own configurations with the configurations downloaded from Active...

I thik that is necessary to configure two differents channel-group for the WLC primary and HA.

Yes, the WLC need to each be in there own etherchannel group.  Otherwise the switch would see all ports as up, and load balance across them all, causing you issuses with any packets that are sent to the standby unit

Hi All,

I am trying to deploy WLC HA ( 8.2.X) with 6500 running in HSRP.

Can anyone suggest how will be connection from WLC to to 6500

Scenario 1 -  Static port-channel to WLC 1 to Core 1

WLC 1 (Ten 1/1) ----> 6500 Core 1 (Ten 1/1)

WLC 1 ( Ten 1/2) -----> 6500 Core 1 ( Ten 1/2)

WLC 2 (Ten 1/1) ----> 6500 Core 2 (Ten 1/1)

WLC 2 ( Ten 1/2) -----> 6500 Core 2 ( Ten 1/2)

Scenario 2 - Crisscross up-link to both core switches

WLC 1 (Ten 1/1) ----> 6500 Core 1 (Ten 1/1)

WLC 1 ( Ten 1/2) -----> 6500 Core 2 ( Ten 1/1)

WLC 2 (Ten 1/1) ----> 6500 Core 2 (Ten 1/2)

WLC 2 ( Ten 1/2) -----> 6500 Core 1 ( Ten 1/2)
