Dear all

Is it possible to upgrade from 4.3.1 to 4.3.2 with ISSU? Unfortunatly there is not a lot of documentation about the support of ISSU from one to another minor release.

cheers,

michel

Hi,

The ISSU topic is documented here:

http://www.cisco.com/web/Cisco_IOS_XR_Software/pdf/ASR9K_ISSU_Overview.pdf

On page 4 you see the ISSU upgrade matrix. Bad news, the only ISSU upgrade supported at the moment is 4.3.0 to 4.3.1. I sincerly hope that this will increase in 5.x.y. Good news is that beginning in 4.3.x there is a new category of SMUs which can be installed using ISSU. This is documented here:

To add to what Florian said,

ISSU on 4.3.0 -> 4.3.1 for ASR9K is only supported once you install Service Pack 2 (CSCug71496)

CRS also supports ISSU but has several caveats when doing the upgrade, so care is needed to prepare and test before doing on a production router.

There are plans for more ISSU releases. One that looks very likely, won't know for sure until the releases are out, is 5.1.1 -> 5.1.2 with 5.1.1 out later in January.

Thanks,

Sam
