Hi,
What is new with ASR-9001-FAN-V2 vs. ASR-9001-FAN? I cannot find any information about that on cisco.com nor googeling...

Hi Florian,
If you plan to use the air baffle to convert the 9001 from side-to-side to front-to-back airflow you have to use the v2 fan.
Other than that no real "enhancements".
If you plan to have side-to-side airflow then you can use either v1 or v2.
Also note that this part is not supported until 5.1.1

Hi Sam,
"Also note that this part is not supported until 5.1.1"
What does this mean exactly? For eg. I can't see the power supplies in "show inventory" on a router with version 4.3.4. Are there any other drawbacks or must the router be upgraded to >= 5.1.1?
I also see this:
Fan Information
---------------------------------------------
Fan speed (rpm) and run time (in hours) :
FAN0 FAN1 FAN2 FAN3 FAN4 FAN5 FAN6 FAN7 FAN8 FAN9 FAN10 FAN11 FAN12 FAN13
0/FT0/* (Speed)
10800 10830 10860 10920 10860 10920 11010 10950 10950 10830 10950 10920
Notice that FAN12 and FAN 13 have no output.
Does this mean that v2 fan has less fans than v1 or all of them are not functioning because of an unsupported version?
Thanks, Karlo.
