ASR9010 temperature

hi,

what is cisco recommended temperature for ASR 9010

To paraphrase

The inlet temperature is closer to the fans and hence will show a cooler temperature. The hotspot is just that, the hottest point on the card. It is better to monitor the hotspot.

For your cards you are above the nominal and short-term operating values. This can be due to many reasons. Some devices are front-to-back cooling while others are side-to-side. Actual cooling of the environment along with the temperature of the air that is brought into the ASR9K. Fiber, copper, power cables etc that may be in the way can also affect cooling.

Not addressing the cooling concerns will not only show environmental messages in your console but can also cause damage to your cards.

Temperature threshold are hard coded.

Router will generate alarms when MINOR/MAJOR/CRITICAL are reached.

For a Hotspot, critical error is at 86 degrees, and card shuts down at 90 (LC) / 93 (RSP).

78 looks a bit high to me, the router is most likely generating minor or major errors about it.  

Make sure that:

- all slots have at least a blank cover (no empty slots)

- air filters are clean

- air intake is not obstructed by external objets

- room temperature is not too high

For LC's

Operating temperature (nominal) 41 to 104ºF (5 to 40ºC)

Operating temperature (short-term) 23 to 131ºF (-5 to 55ºC)

Operating humidity (nominal) relative humidity 10 to 85%

Storage temperature -40 to 158ºF (-40 to 70ºC)

Storage relative humidity 5 to 95%

For RSP

Operating temperature: 32 to 104°F (0 to 40°C)

Storage temperature: -40 to 167°F (-40 to 75°C)

Relative humidity: 10 to 90%, noncondensing

There are also recommendations for SFP's and other system components.
