Hi Experts,

I have two set ASR 9006 Chassis=2 x RSP 440, 4x4TE Line cards. Active software XR 5.4.3

I have 4 service providers, 2 cloud operators connection. I need a backup hardware.

I want to backup and redundancy for the ASR9K chasies. I'm looking the configuration example but I can't find.

Could you explain how to possible interchassis redundancy for the ASR9K?

Hi Umit,

there is the nv cluster solution, however it is not really supported anymore.

https://community.cisco.com/t5/service-providers-documents/asr9000-xr-cluster-nv-edge-guide/ta-p/3151344

we can also do MC-LAG if your connection to the provider is layer 2

Thanks

As Tarun mention nv edge is the only real method of clustering (vPC / multichassis / etc) available but its unsupported after 5.3.4.  It is only supported with RSP440 and -TR -SE tengige cards.

MC-LAG is one alternative but config heavy as you need to offload 1 set of VLANs to one ASR9K and the other set to the other ASR9K for active/standby.

Another alternative would be EVPN which is an active/active method with dual routers.
