Downgrading IOS XR on ASR1001-X

Is there a link on proper way to downgrade the IOS on ASR 1001-X?  Currently one unit is on 17.x.  

I know the simple way would be to wipe flash and reinstall IOS 16.x but we have licenses on the ASR1001-X that we need to preserve.  

Any info will be greatly appreciated

Hi,

Licenses should be downloadable from the smart license home page. If you don't have access to this for some reason you can try to download the license file from the device to a USB stick.

@brisco did you just import/download the license from unit to USB?  Is it just straight "copy" device:file ?

OOPS!  So adding 16.9.1 to the router and telling it to boot from it did it.  However, the 10G port license went from Perpetual on 17.x to Eval on 16.9
