Is Cisco A99-SFC3-S supported on 9910 chassis with A99-RSP-SE

Hi Experts,

Is A99-SFC3-S supported on 9910 chassis with A99-RSP-SE? Document on Cisco site is not very clear.

ASR9910 has slots in the rear for 5 x fabric cards. We already have 1 x SFC-S on existing ASR9K HW. Can we mix-and-match with A99-SFC3-S or need to have same HW type as existing fabric card?

SFC-S has 230 Gbps bandwidth, where as A99-SFC3-S has 600 Gbps. So, how much capacity we get in each line card? We plan to use A9K-24X10GE-1G-SE or A9K-24X10GE-SE (depending on fabric card) & A99-8X100GE-SE, for further expansion. Also, do we need to add more fabric cards, as we add line cards for bandwidth scaling and achieve full line rate throughput?

Regards,

Sumanta.

SFCS provides 230 per slot, slide 10.

if you plan on using the newer lightspeed cards, you will need to upgrade the fabric cards to support the additional bandwidth. if you run lightspeed with lower fabric the system will rate limit the card.

a99-rsp-se is supported in 9906 and 9910 chassis, each also provide 230G per slot

Thanks

Hi Sumanta,

since the fabric connectivity is full mesh, it is not recommended to have a mix of generations of fabric cards.

we need them to all be the same, slide 66 addresses this, earlier slides explain how the fabric is connected to each line card

Hi tkarnani,

Thanks for the reply. So we stick to SFC-S. But, do we know how long Cisco is going to support this HW?

Also, how about bandwidth calculation when we add new line cards? I can see there are multiple generation of line cards as well. SFC-S shows support for both 2nd and 3rd ones.

Also, LC data sheet don't show RSP model support. (A99-RSP-SE)
