We are trying to upgrade a NCS-5501 to 7.3.1 but it keeps failing saying not enough space but doing a show media shows that there is plenty of space in harddisk:  Any suggestions?

what version are you upgrading from?

i have attached the upgrade guide that goes over the supported versions

older versions may be impacted by CSCvo68822

Thank you.  We're going from 6.5 to 7.  I have looked at the link and have already tried to clear all the inactive packages but still get the same message.

Even tried to boot off USB with usb boot image but when selecting USB in Bios it doesn't seem to go into the USB and Bios screen still remains.  This unit is test unit so we can wipe it and start over but we can't even boot off USB at this point

The error is complaining about sysadmin space not xr space. Can you check show media from sysadmin.

Sam

Here is the output from sysadmin

sysadmin-vm:0_RP0# show media

sysadmin-vm:0_RP0#

Do I need to free up install tmp and install cache?

Can you give a show install active from sysadmin?

It looks like 871 of 888MB used is via the installed software.

You can also check with show install superseded and remove any packages with install deactivate superseded and then install remove inactive.

Sam

Thanks Sam, will give that a try, though I have already performed - install deactivate superceded...will try again.
