NCS1002 Chassis Serial Number for ZTP

andre
Level 1
Level 1

When using DHCP, platforms such as the ASR99xx and NCS55xx pass the serial number which can be found by doing a "show chassis", which is also the serial number on a sticker, to the DHCP server. This matches the "Rack 0" Serial Number when doing "show inventory".

For some reason the NCS1002, does not use the serial number found on the sticker or matching "show chassis".

Instead it seems to use the serial number tied to PID NCS1K-CNTLR.

Name: 0/RP0 Descr: Network Convergence System 1000 Controller
PID: NCS1K-CNTLR VID: V05 SN: CATxxxxxxx

Is there any reason for this inconsistency ?

It just makes dealing with IOS-XR based devices in a standardised more complicated then it needs to be.
