Hi Everyone,

can anyone please confirm that what is the maximum number of BVI/BDI and number of Bridge domains supported on Cisco ASR9k

Hi,

According to the below example (RSPs and LCs are Typhoon cards),

System capability:

Max BVI interface supported : 16000

Node 0/0/CPU0 capability:

   Max BVI interfaces: 4000

-not much if you ask me, especially when I can have only one BD per VXLAN,

So yes you’re much better of just using an external loop cable so you can provide L3 for BDs on sub-interfaces (as those scale much better).

Which XR release are you running?

The reply I posted yesterday was from 6.3.1.

This is from an asr9001 running 6.4.2:

You can find that info in the output of "show l2vpn capability" command. I'm attaching the output from an asr9k running a 6.3.x release.
