XFP-10GER-192IR+ and XFP10GER-192IR-L

Hi All,

I have to install transceivers ER in one ASR9010 and I have available two types: XFP-10GER-192IR+ and XFP10GER-192IR-L. I saw the compatibility matrix document and it says that I can use both types in one 8X10G Linecard. So my question is what is the difference between these two

transceivers ER.

Regards.

Hello Jaime,

The XFP-10GER-192IR+ and XFP10GER-192IR-L are Cisco Multirate 10GBASE-ER/-EW and OC-192/STM-64 IR-2 XFP Module for SMF, rated for distances up to 40km with a maximum bandwidth of 10Gbps.

The difference between them is the power consumption: 3.5 W in XFP-10GER-192IR+ vs 2.5W in XFP10GER-192IR-L.

The -L in the end stands for "Low" consumption.

Regards.

would like to add the following:

XFP (LR/ER/ZR support multi-rate)

Thanks Xander.

And regarding dwdm XFPs, has CRS a restriction about the number of modules inserted in a slot?.

We have a 14x10GE PLIM with 4 dwdm xpf ( ports 0,2,4 and 6) and 2 LR xpf (ports 3 and 10). Now we want to install more dwdm and LR XPFs. Is there some restriction about this?.

Regards,

Jaime.

Jaime, I would want to recommend opening a tac case on that if no one response to your question in a relatively short time. I am not familiar enough with the thermals of CRS and its airflow/CFM capacity. I dont believe there are similar restrictions, but best to make sure with someone who knows the crs thermals inside out.

regards

xander
