ACI Simulator VM no ping or http access

I have installed the 5.2-1g version of the simulator as a VM using VShpere 6.7 (

There is no access to the management IP address. The VM shows as being isolated. Cannot ping it or http.

I cannot ping the gateway. Cannot login as root.

Also discovery of the nodes doesn't work.

acidiag fnvread shows only a leaf with no IP address.

I was using the using the defaults on the wizzard:Untitled picture.png

Am I missing anything ?

Hi @andreimateicco

...and you gave it 12 vCPU and 64GB RAM?

You'll never login as root. Login as admin with the password you defined during setup

Also discovery of the nodes doesn't work.

OK - sorry if I got a bit repetitive there, but all those things seem like a lack of resources type thing.

Remember when you first boot this thing up it takes about an hour - and node discovery can be just as slow.

If you've done everything - try 16vCPU and 96GB RAM. Or try dCloud - I wrote a little about that here

Hi @RedNectar, my VM is using 12 vCPUs and 32GB of memory. I was going for the small topology.

Still, I would have expected to at least access the OOB IP address.

The MAC associated to the OOB interface (apic1-eth1) is not showing up on the vSwitch.

I cannot ping from my Gateway the OOB IP address.

I was checking the recommended specifications:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/cloud-systems-management/application-centric-infrastructure-simulator/datasheet-c78-733252.html

●     8 vCPUS

●     24 GB RAM

●     100 GB hard drive

Did you read my other article? - I'll give the full address rather than just a link. Essentially I'm telling you the requirements have been updated recently. The FIRST article you linked to had the correct information.

Did you set the vswitch for oob management to enable promiscuous mode?

To whom this may be useful: I second what @Robert Burns wrote. Please make sure the settings for the promiscuous mode and the Forged transmits are set to Accept on the Port Group of your virtual switch.

Only then you can ping the IP address you configured for APIC OoB.
