Inter VRF routing with loopback cable

Hi,

For some specific reasons, my client wants to implement inter-VRF routing with a loopback cable.

The idea is:

- use a cable to connect the port Eh1/47 to Eth1/48 of the Border Leaf

- disable LLDP, MCP ... on these ports

- Eth1/47 : L3Out 1 in VRF 1 with IP 192.168.1.1/30 (Routed Interface)

- Eth1/48 : L3Out 2 in VRF 2 with IP 192.168.1.2/30 (Routed Interface)

- Static routes will be implemented on both L3Out so that traffic from VRF 1 to VRF 2 will go to the Border Leaf, take the loopback cable before going to the destination.

The problem is: after configuring the above settings, I can see that ports Eth1/47 and Eth1/48 are up with the correct IP addresses (and VRF). However I cannot iping from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.2.

Any advices would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

The problem is because most likely the same MAC address is being used on both L3 interfaces (00:22:BD:xxxxxx). Change the MAC under the L3Out Logical Interface Profile and test again.

Take care,

Is there a reason why our client doesn't want to handle  inter-VRF communication via the fabric?
