Hi.
Recently I was upgrading a C4500E with SUP8. The software which was pushed was a cat4500e- version instead of cat4500es8. version.During task "mage Integrity Vertication", it is validatting the software with succes. Afterwards the switch was failing and went into ROMMON mode. It was brought up.
There wasn`t golden image for C4500E. But software ver : cat4500es8-universalk9.SPA.03.10.02.E.152-6.E2.bin was candidate for a golden image. In that case, should I marked it as golden Image ? - If yes, then DNAC should go with this software version for upgrading that model of switch with the golden image (?).
Another, why did DNAC validate SUP7 software as ok, for a switch with SUP8 ?
DNAC runs : Version 2.3.5.5-70026
Hope you can assist with my questions.
Brgds

I personally do not rely on DNAC 100% (every version of DNAC Act funny) - i would go traditional way to upgrade its easy and tension free.

"Validation" just means that it ran the md5 sum to make sure that the image downloaded ok from cisco.com to your Cat Center instance.
The SWIM process should proceed with whichever file you select. So for 4500's, it's up to you to select the correct binary.
If you look at the Cat Center compatibility matrix (select "upgrade" radio button to see legacy platforms), SWIM on 4500's is actually only supported on 3.11 versions, but I don't know of a specific reason why a 3.10 upgrade wouldn't work, and I don't think it's causing any of the issues you reported. Just something to keep in mind.
