Dear Community,
I am currently studying the ability of the DNA Centre to visualizing the WLAN client data for our existing vC9800 WLC.
Here is some information about the existing WLAN infra:
- Virtual C9800 WLC is used to manage Cisco AP
- all Cisco AP and all tagged WLANs (SSIDs) are running in local switching mode and central authentication mode.
There is no user traffic will flow through the vWLC9800 (due to local switching mode)
So, although the vWLC9800 could be configured to send Netflow & telemetry data to DNA center, there is no much info sending back to DNA center.
Does anyone know if Wireless Assurance will work for our WLAN infra? thanks!

Just to clarify the terminology here. It sounds like you are running Flex mode. Local mode means that traffic is switched locally on the WLC (a bit confusing, I know)
Most of wireless assurance doesn't care about the switching mode as the information presented relates to signal strength and control plane (onboarding) activity, so you are good there.
If you are interested in more advanced application telemetry (the Enable Telemetry in inventory), just make sure you are on the latest DNA version (2.3), as the limitations of only Local mode have been removed (assuming your WLC is on 17.x code as well):
"If the SSIDs are mixed—that is, Local mode, Flex mode, and Fabric mode—the Cisco Application Visibility and Control (AVC) basic record is configured. If all the SSIDs are in Local mode, the Optimized APM record is configured."

Hi Preston,
Thanks, it's great to know Application Telemetry work with Flex mode SSID.
Will have a try on it, thank you~
