Cisco Mobile 8.X for iPhone provides users with voice over IP (VoIP) calling, visual voicemail, and access to the corporate directory while users are connected to the corporate network over Wi-Fi, either on company premises or over VPN. Cisco Mobile client software works in conjunction with Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Cisco Unity Connection directly and does not need the Cisco Unified Mobility Advandage(CUMA) servers.

In contract, Cisco Mobile 7.X for iPhone, also known as Cisco Unified Mobile Communicator 7.1, is a different product and runs in conjunction with a Cisco Unified Mobility Advantage server.

In case the CUMA features are needed, the users can run both Cisco Mobile 7.X and 8.X clients on the same iPhone.
