Core Issue
The Cisco VG224 is a Cisco IOS high-density, 24-port gateway for analog phones, fax machines, modems, and speaker phones within an enterprise voice system based on Cisco CallManager. Having these devices tightly integrated with the IP-based phone system is advantageous for increased manageability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, perform these steps:
- Check the cabling on the ports, or try to change the cable. For more information on cabling refer to the Analog Voice RJ-21 Pin out section of Cisco Modular Access Router Cable Specifications.
- Verify that you have proper IP connectivity. Issue the ping command to verify that the proper IP address has been assigned to the device.
