Separate another organization's equipment from showing in CX cloud

Hi All,

Another group (subsidy) has their own Cisco gear and its showing in our cx cloud database because we share the same mailing address. Cisco then usually mixes things up. Is there a way I can segregate/remove these equipment from appearing in our cx cloud database?

Thanks!

First step, get access to the CX Cloud account. Second step, check out asset groups to see if they will help. Third step, work with your team on the existing setup you have for telemetry. Looks like you already have CX Agent deployed and Catalyst Center connected to it.

There are 2 options. I assuming they are showing up because they are mixed on the same Support Contract? 1) Work with your Partner or Cisco Account Team to have the contracts split apart to remove the lines that belong to the subsidiary. Once this is done, those assets will automatically be removed from your CX Cloud account. 2) Use Asset Groups to separate those assets from the ones you care about.

Hi Chris, We tried #1 didn't work... Is there a guide/resource so I can work on #2?

THanks

The account Super Admins have the ability to setup asset groups in the Admin Center (gear icon). There are 2 types of asset groups: 1) Static groups can created by uploading a list of serials or 2) Dynamic groups based on a handful of asset attributes.

One other option you have would be to focus on telemetry to populate your CX Cloud account and not use the Support Contracts if they contain the subsidiary. I would assume your telemetry sources (Catalyst Center, Intersight, Direct Collection with our CX Cloud Agent, etc.) would only contain your assets and not the subsidiaries?

Yes, but I haven't set up telemetry in Cisco Catalyst. Device controllability is turned off and yes, devices are in Catalyst are our own assets but they were discovered and not via PNP...

Honestly I am not sure what would be the best approach, I can do setup asset groups or telemetry (I may need to enable that feature first?)

Thank you for all the help

Hi Chris,

the two organizations share the same contracts. I have no idea which devices are ours vs other organization's just by looking at the serial numbers covered by the contracts. I also don't think I can remove them from our contract as that would affect their Cisco Support. I know that our DNA center has the accurate list of our owned devices since these were populated by discovery. Is there way to populate cx cloud data from DNA without mixing them up with data source of using contracts?

You can use Catalyst Center as a data source for CX Cloud and you can open a support case to REMOVE any contracts from the account that have multiple organizations. You would also lose visibility of any of your organization’s assets on that contract if they were not in Catalyst Center. It is a requirement to have one contract in the account, however.
