USING PERSONEL PHONE DIRECTORY ON 88xx SERIES PHONES

We are on version 14 CUCM and having a challenge which hopefully can get assisst.

Phones are associated on the self care portal and able to build the personal phone directory.

Problem is being able to login from the phone itself to view the directory.  Having issues building the login ID and password.

Using LDAP to sync users to CUCM and associate properly as required.

When in the user management we set a ten digit number in the user pin field and a 6 digit pin but getting login unsuccessful on the phone.   The 10 digit pin user ID is the same ten digit number prefix for the users ldap account.

Also tried using the login ldap password in the pin field and still isn't working .

Any detailed steps to set this up would be appreciated.

The personal directory on the phone uses the User ID, which is your End User ID, and the PIN you set from the self-care/End User page on CUCM to log in.

Make sure you are using the correct End User ID and the PIN you set up to log in.

Will the self service user ID work as the UserID on the phone?   The sso account is XXXXXXXXXX.ADMNA@army.mil and entering that string is a pain each time?

Also on a side note isn't there a way to disable the login/pwd Personal Directory Login ?

You need to use the user ID you used to log in to the self-care portal and the PIN you configured.

Thank you .... looks like we need to disable the feature for login ID and PWD if possible.  Do you how to make that happen.

As @Nithin Eluvathingal pointed out, the Personal Directory must be logged into with the UserID and PIN as configured on the end-user account.

With services like Extension Mobility you can change the login from the UserID to the Self-Service UserID (SSID) by appending &loginType=SP to the end of the standard EM Service URL (ex: https://<CUCM>:8080/emapp/EMAppServlet?device=#DEVICENAME#&loginType=SP) I've not tried it, but it might be possible to edit the default Personal Directory IP Phone Service and append that same string to the end to see if the PD can be accessed with the SSID. I'd give it a 50-50 shot as to whether this would work. I can't try it in my lab at the moment.

To disable the Personal Directory altogether, navigate to the IP Phone services and access the Personal Directory service. There is a checkbox for "Enable" that you can uncheck and Save.

Also: If it is just a couple of users that use this service regularly you can deploy a custom service for each user that contains the login information so they can access the PD with a single button. Instructions for that is here:

If you’re having trouble adding the user ID due to its complexity, the link mentioned by @Maren Mahoney offers an alternative that doesn’t require a user ID and PIN.

I haven’t tried it myself, so you’ll need to test it and see how it behaves.
