Hello all,

Looking for advice as I am unable to get to ROMMON on my Cisco 2901. It seems password recovery has been disabled. I removed the compact flash and rebooted without success. Please see output below.

Thanks for providing that link. I had previously looked at that as well. However my router does not have an IOS on it. The break sequence is not getting to rommon. I was under the impression that removing tge CF card would force it to boot to rommon, but after removing the CF card I am still getting the same loop shown in the shared output. Unfortunately, I do not have a way to put the file directly on the CF from my PC or I would just do that. Thanks for the response.

Certainly password recovery has been disabled. And that means that you would not be able to recover the original config. But you should be able to start over. The current issue is not having an IOS. I suspect that the IOS is on the CF. Try putting CF back and try booting again.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately the CF did not contain an IOS. I was trying to get to rommon to transfer the file to the CF over xmodem.

Anyways, I ended up just getting a CF reader and copying the IOS to CF.

I was hoping to be able to get the IOS transferred without buying additional adapters, but had to get it on there somehow.

Thanks for the support.

Thanks for the  update.

May be format CF and use TFTP easy to transfer, or copy from PC to CF and check.
