Hello,
I have limited network knowledge so I need some guidance please. I have recently bought a GS250 switch and a RSV235 to configure in my home. In my home configuration I will have my provider router, offering network 192.168.0.X and a wifi for guest who will be on this network, then the RSV235 will connect to this network, so all my machines will be behind the RSV235 on different networks. Now I configured 3 VLANS on the GS250, each VLAN has reserved untagged ports, so all the VLANs are segregated. Here is my question:
- How should I connect the GS250 to the RSV325 ?
1 - Should I configure a single trunk tagged port on the GS250 shared by all the VLANS and just wire this port to a trunk tagged port on the RS325 (single wire CAT6)
2 - Should I simply define 3 VLANS on the RSV325 and put untagged reserved ports, and wire each VLAN to the ports on the GS250 (3 VLANS = 3 wires cat 6)
The RSV325 will route all the machines from each VLAN and decide if they can see each other (inter vlan) or access internet. My purpose is segregate all the machines in my home network into different vlans, so that my network works better
