Can't access ISRv or ASAv console from NFVIS on Cisco ENCS

Hi,

We upgraded NFVIS to be able to change the value of "Serial console" to true for all our images, but we are still unable to access any ISRv or ASAv console from NFVIS. We tried it on several different ENCS and it always ends with a console freeze, which forces us to restart the system.

We are unable to access the console of an ISRv or an ASAv on our ENCS. Firstly, we had the following error:Screen Shot 2018-01-10 at 10.26.36.png

To be able to enable the serial console, we upgraded NFVIS and created a new image with the correct setting. Now, when trying to get the console, our complete system freeze.Screen Shot 2018-01-10 at 10.43.38.png

Look like we are connected, but it's impossible to write anything. Ctrl-C doesn't let us go back to NFVIS and the session is saved so even if we kill the SSH process and start a new one (or use the physical console access), we return in the same state.

Thank in advance for your help.

  • Plateforme: ENCS 5406/k9
  • NFVIS: 3.6.2-FC3

You need to enable the "platform serial console" command on the ISRv. A reboot is required. On the ASAv you must create a file on Disk0 called use_ttyS0 and then reboot. You can do so by executing the following commands.

ciscoasa(config)# cd coredumpinfo

ciscoasa(config)# copy coredump.cfg disk0:/use_ttyS0

Note that this will redirect the output to serial making the VNC console unusable.
