Question: Does Catalyst Center support Third Party devices?

Answer: Yes, Catalyst Centre support Third Party devices which are capable of retrieving MIB-II data compliant with RFC1213. The Third-Party device shall be added via Inventory using SNMP Credentials. Other methods on Discovery/PnP is not yet supported

Question: What are the supported functional areas for Third-Party devices in Catalyst Center?

Answer: Currently, scope for Third-Party device is limited to Inventory, Topology and Assurance.
Below are the supported areas:

  1.  Inventory:
    Device Site assignment (No provisioning)
    Device resync
    Device delete
    Editing/ Updating device information (for eg: Device IP, SNMP string)
    Device role change
    Device detail view (eg: interface status, hardware information)
    Import/ Export
  2.  Topology:
    Device Icon without any link information
  3.  Assurance:
    Device 360 view
    Issues and Events

Question: Can we add AP, WLC or any wireless Third-Party devices to Catalyst Center Inventory?

Answer: No, wireless devices are currently not capable of providing MIB-II based data

Question: Can Catalyst Center detect the Vendor information of Third-Party devices in Inventory?

Answer: Yes, Vendor information gets detected for MIB-II based Third-Party devices in Inventory

Question: Can we add Cisco unsupported or legacy devices to the Inventory?

Answer: Yes, adding Cisco Unsupported or Legacy devices is possible in Catalyst Center Inventory. Catalyst Center will poll the MIB-II data from these devices, provided these devices will show up in Inventory with Support Type as "Unsupported".  Please note: Cisco does not fix for any failures or bugs for such devices.

Question: Can we Provision a Third-Party device from Catalyst Center?

Answer: No, We can only assign Third-Party deivces to site, provision of the device is a restricted operation.

Question: Is SWIM, RMA, Compliance, config drift supported for Third-Party devices in Inventory?

Answer: No. SWIM, RMA, Compliance, Config drift are restricted and not supported for Third Party devices.

Question: Can you use the Port Actions to clear the mac address or Shut down the port from Device Detail view?

Answer: No, this action is not supported for Third-Party devices.

Question: Can we get syslog and traps from Third-Party devices?

Answer: No, since no configuration is getting pushed to Third-Party devices. No syslog will be seen.

Question: Is there a particular license level required to add Third-Party devices to Catalyst Center?

Answer: No particular license needed for adding Third-Party devices.

Question: Can Third-Party SDK be used to add devices to inventory?

Answer: No, support for the Multivendor SDK has been deprecated.

Question: How do we calculate Third-Party device's health score?

Answer: Third party devices will not have health score calculated based on KPI, reachability is the only factor to determine if the device is healthy.

Question: How do we classify Third-Party devices?

Answer: These Devices will be classified as "Third Party Device" and with Vendor information provided.

Question: Do we report any Third-Party device issues or events? 

Answer: Very limited issues and events are supported, such as device reachability and availability.

Question: What are the additional visibility we provide for Third-Party devices?

Answer: Under device 360, for detail information, we provide interface status such as port type, link speed, duplex mode,  VLAN, operation and admin status.

Question: Do we support path trace with Third-Party devices?

Answer: No, with current design it cannot be supported.

Question: Do we support Application Experience with Third-Party devices?

Answer: No, NetFlow needs to be collected from the device for this operation, which is not currently designed for Third-Party devices.

1. Can this be supported on AWS Marketplace?if yes, When is the GA?
2. Is Catalyst center replace DNAC ?

3. Is Catalyst center having the same features as DNAC with additional features of support 3rd parties devices ?

4. What happened for client who has placed order for DNAC license for AWS? Will it replace by Catalyst center for AWS ?

5. Is there an upgrade guide from existing DNAC to Catalyst center on AWS?

Cisco Catalyst Center is the rebranding of Cisco DNA Center. It's the same product so no migration needed.

Change of naming we will trickle into the product moving forward.
