Hi,
I'll be upgrading the memory of our 3640 router. This is to accommodate on the new IOS ver12.3(8)T4 which has a minimum memory requirment of 16Mb flash and 96Mb DRAM.
The existing flash memory of our 3640 is only 8Mb but have no idea on the DRAM. Would it be OK if I'll upgrade the flash by removing the existing 8Mb flash and installing 2 16Mb flash? Also for the DRAM upgrade, please advise what will be the correct combination for me to come up with a total of 96Mb of DRAM memory.
Any inputs on this inquiry will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
udimpas

Hello,
as for the flash: 2 x 16MB works ok, even 1 x 16MB would work.
As for the DRAM, there are two modes of operation, 32-bit and 64-bit. In 32-bit operation, the maximum DRAM is 56MB, in 64-bit mode the maximum in 128MB, but you have to install the DRAM in pairs, so I think you cannot achieve 96, it is either 64 or 128.
