Routing Configurations - Redundancy, Backup, Failover

Given two routers connected to a single switch by redundant connections, please advise as to configuration examples for each of the routers, assuring packets will reach the server by one of the redundant paths.

It is desired to have a primary path, which when dropped, will take the redundant path to the servers. Simply put, how do I configure redundant paths?

Redundancy will be two fold for you. One portion of the redundancy will be on your server/switch side which you can accomplish with HSRP (Hot Standby Routing Protocol). Here's a good link since there is tons of ways to set this up.

Second portion of this redundancy will be based on your router uplinks and the routing protocols you are using. Load sharing and redundancy could be accomplished depending on what type routing protocol and infrustructure setup you have.

Hope this helps you,
