Subscriber/Subscription Ratios

I'm looking for a guideline as to how much bandwidth I need per user for an internet connection. Traffic will be limited to HTTP/HTTPS and e-mail.

I've read that rule of thumb for ISPs is to take in no more than 5 T1's per every T1 connecting to the Internet. Does this same 5:1 ratio apply when calculating users?

Thanks for your help.

The network model is 20/80 or 80/20 network . like most of the traffic like voice and video can be done through internet. Any way you need will be increasing day by day . So preserve some amount for scalablity for future .

If you are using DOCSIS you can follow some standards like If the service is asymmetrical, determine the ratio of downstream to upstream data rates. For basic Internet access where the majority of traffic is sent to a subscriber and the subscriber sends only a small amount of data upstream, use ratios ranging from 5:1 to 10:1.
