Hello,
you are correct, in order to be able to access your webserver from the Internet, you need a public IP address, however, there are several options: if you have your webserver directly connected to your ADSL or cable modem, you could use a service called Dynamic DNS, which basically allows external users to access your webserver regardless of which dynamic IP address is given to you by your provider whenever you login. Check this link for more info on this service:
Dynu Dynamic DNS Service
Another option is to request a fixed public IP address from your provider and assign it directly to your webserver. Or, if your server is part of an internal network, you could use the fixed public IP address and use Network Address Translation to translate the address of your webserver to that public address.

hi
Ok now about this dynamic DNS, i just want to know that, from one of our desktop i am using nslookup.
What is this NSLOOKUP & when it is useful??
When i am issuing a command on nslookup like cisco.com it gives me the following output
> yahoo.com
Server: w-mum-dc2.3globalservices.com
Address: 172.27.1.142
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: yahoo.com
Addresses: 216.109.127.30, 66.218.71.198, 216.109.127.28, 216.109.127.29
what is this Public IP Address & what is the meaning of Non-authoritative answer.
kindly reply.
