I have recently purchased a RVS4000 router and am experiencing major downtime.
Almost everyday the RVS4000 router losing internet connectivity.
I noticed that when this happens I cannot login into the router from my pc which is connected to the RVS4000 network.
The only way to restore connectivity is to restart the RVS4000 by disonnecting power and powering back up.
The router's WAN is connected to my Cable modem.
The RVS400 has two PC connected to it. (port 3 & 4)
I have a Cisco 8-port switch connect to the RVS4000 with 3 additional PCs/devices on it.
Is there any way to determine what's happening? The logs don't seem to indicate much.
What's causing this?
Please need help, ideas, suggestions!

Hi Tony, first thing to do is make sure the router is running the latest firmware 2.0.3.2
For good measure, after the software upgrade, reset the unit to factory default. Once done, I'd put the minimum configuration needed just to have internet access then wait and see if there's a problem.
If the problem happens again, best thing may be to do is set up an external syslog server so it can capture events when the router is not accessible, that may point to a right direction.

The latest version is 2.0.3.2, if you have an older one, you can download the latest in Cisco.com http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/release.html?mdfid=282414013&softwareid=282465789
Also try with a factory resset (always do a backup of your information).

Cisco has a very useful tool called GuideMe, is made for small business products, and your device is in this category, you can use this address for accessing the tool: http://sbkb.cisco.com/CiscoSB/Loginr.aspx?alt1 = & pid = 4 & eroute = Super, is very easy to use, just complete the 3 spaces on this way:
Select a category: (Select the device type on request), eg Routers
Enter model: (Type the model on request), eg RV042
Question: (Type what you want to know about the device), eg VPN
And it'll be showing all the information you need about what you wrote.

Hi Tom,
Ok. I'll will update the firmware once I get back. The RVS4000 currently has V2.0.2.7.
I'll reset to factory default and do min config, which right now I only had configure VPN IPsec (1 user). Although ot used yet.
Question the external syslog server may not be able to capture, since I've noticed that when this issue occurs I can not even connect to the router to view the logs. (until I restart it).
Any in case I will try to setup Kiwi syslog.
I'll will update status later today.

Good Morning Johnnatan,
I've updated the firmware lastnight to 2.0.3.2, defaulted to factory and config basic setup. (No VPN, No email logs).
Now will wait and see if it resolved it.
Last week it was going down daily and then it had a 3-4 day span where it was ok until Sunday night and since then it was going daily if not twice a day.
Hopefully this fixes it.
If not, I setup the Syslog server.
I'll update the forum on progress.

Thanks updating to firmware 2.0.3.2 appears to have resolved the router losing internet and network access. I have not had to restart it since the udpate. I will continue to monitor it and post if anything changes.

Say folks,
The firmware bundle states this package only runs on RVS4000 v2.
I am runninf 1.3.3.5, which appears to be for RVS4000 v1.
What's the difference ?
