Allow switch to connect to the internet for licensing

My 9300 is unable to pull a license from the portal, I believe I have to configure it to be able to achieve this but I don't know what I would need to do. I currently only have 2 ports configured that go directly to the ISP what do I need to do to allow this

the switch need ip-connectivity to the internet
- configure an ip-address on the uplink (   manually or using DHCP)
- configure dns resolving (manually or DHCP)

if "ping software.cisco.com" gets an reply you are good to go
if "ping 8.8.8.8" works but "ping software.cisco.com" not, your dns resolving does not work
if both don't work then your tcp/ip configuration is not correct or your ISP blocks some traffic

if the switch came right out of the box it will be configured for dhcp
