are there instructions for installing this on a uc520/540?

Hi mloraditch,

The SPA5xx firware is delivered as part of a software bundle for the UC5xx products and is typically not installed in an ad-hoc manner like the SIP versions are. The SPA5xx firmware will be included in a future UC5xx release. I don't have an available date.

Regards,

Patrick

Document claim that Verisign CA based certificates are recognized.

According  Verisign (now Symantec) tech support, VeriSign Class 3 Secure Server CA  based certificates are no longer issued.

Class 3 Public Primary  Certification Authority rooted certificates are sold under product name  "Secure Site" and "Secure Site Pro". They are rather expensive, but even worse, they are verified not to be accepted by SPA5xx with 7.5.5 firmware (connection rejected with X509_V_ERR_UNABLE_TO_GET_ISSUER_CERT_LOCALLY).
