UC 320 Configuration Utility includes functionality for automatic notification of availability of new firmware. This is configured during the initial setup of the system and is the recommended option for firmware upgrades.When this is configured, the system automatically checks (over the internet) for availability of new firmware. If available, user will be notified, with the option to Upgrade, Upgrade Later or Download the firmware to the PC for manual installation.
In addition to the automatic firmware upgrade notification, the system allows manual firmware upgrade. In order to download it, go to to the Cisco Support Center, and type in UC300 in the search engine and click search. Once downloaded to your PC, you can install it via the Configuration Utility, Status, Devices, "Upgrade from your PC". Please note the automatic process is strongly recommended, the manual option is yet available for debugging purposes (e.g. installing BETA firmware).
As of Firmware Release 2.0, UC 320 localization is embedded in the product. It provides localization for Configuration Utility Language, Auto-attendant, Voicemail, Phone display language and FXO (line) caller ID, disconnect tones, and system progress tones. The following countries/languages are currently supported:

United States (English)
Localization of the Configuration Utility Language is done via setting the appropriate language in your web browser. Steps are described in an application note.
FXO Impedance matching tool
The FXO Impedance matching tool is an embedded application on the UC320 configuration utility, that helps partners to optimize the FXO ports settings on the UC320 to match the PSTN line setup, in order to have the best possible quality on the line. The FXO Impedance Matching tool can be found on the Configuration area, Line (FXO) Ports, as shown in the figure below.
Click on the FXO Impedance Matching button and the tool appears. You can start the testing (please ensure that FXO line is connected and in service on the Status -> External Trunks). Once on the FXO Impedance Matching window, select the phone number for testing (don't include the steering digit) and the FXO port for testing, click Start. Please note phone should be a local landline phone number. After call is established, please set the landline phone on mute.
After test is completed on the port, the suggested values for Impedance, Co-Termination and Line Type are shown, make sure you copy these values on the Line (FXO) ports area. Repeat the process with the other lines connected. After tests are completed, press Apply button to apply the changes.
FXO Gain adjustment tool
The FXO Gain adjustment tool is an embedded application on the UC320 Configuration Utility, that helps partners to fine tune audio levels over FXO ports to ensure highest audio quality possible over PSTN lines. Please note that once you select your locale (country), the FXO gain settings are automatically adjusted to provide best PSTN audio quality based on the country standards/default. The FXO Gain adjustment tool is provided for additional means to adjust the FXO gain (audio levels) in case the default values do not provide the desired outcome (e.g. the local or remote audio levels are too soft). Please note it is recommended to first run the FXO Impedance Matching tool before any FXO gain adjustments, especially applicable in case of troubleshooting echo issues.The FXO Gain Adjustment tool can be found on the Configuration area, Line (FXO) Ports, as shown in the figure below.
Click on the Adjust FXO Gain button and the application appears. You can modify the transmit gain (this is to be adjust the audio level the external party hears) as well as the receive gain (this is to adjust the audio level the local user hear). Please be careful about setting high gain values as this may lead to undersired results such as distortion and echo. After changes are done, click Apply button. You have the option to Restore Defaults in case you want to roll-back the changes.
System Logs (Syslog) tool
The Syslog Logs tool is an embedded application on the UC320 Configuration Utility that helps partners to troubleshoot issues related to the platform as well as to any of the external voice interfaces: FXO ports, SIP trunks or connectivity to Mediatrix ISDN gateway. It provides information about platform, SIP/SDP and FXO traces in a common format. The System Logs can be enabled and seen from the Status area, Troubleshooting.
On the screen, you can enable System logs, view logs for one or more external interfaces (the platform system logs are always added), and save the system logs to a local file on the PC.
When viewing the System Logs, some important considerations must be taken:
Enable system logs only when troubleshooting, system logs processes consume CPU and memory. As soon as you complete the troubleshooting session, please disable it.
Click only on the external interface(s) you want to troubleshoot. If you click on every interface, the system log will generate an important amount of data, difficulting reading/analysis.
By Checking the Show SIP Only, the system will show only SIP traces, it will not include SDP or any other information that may be relevant.
