3xSG500X-24 in VRRP and 10G LAG/STACK

Hi, im interested in know if the following construct make sense and is factible:

  1. 3 SG500X interconnected via 3 10G SFP+ Cable in Stack. This for obtaining maximum troughput and single management over all switch ports
  2. Configuring VRRP over the 3 Switches. This for getting a redundant Router/Vlan configuration
  3. Connect 3 ESX-Host each with a dual port 10GB SFP+ to the switches. This for HA configuration of ESX, so in the case 1 Switch or 1 Host fails the Virtual Machines will still available (in the case of Host failure for all the Users, in the case of a switch failure for all users less the users of the failed switch..

HA vsphere vsa solution with 3 SG500x.png

4. If the above diagrammed scenario is possible, is there a manner to control the bandwithd on the stack ports to avoid saturation from esx side?

Thanks for any useful answers, and sorry for my english....

Ulrich, you may set an ingress and egress rate limit.

config t

interface xg1/1/1

rate-limit -----

Additionally this is access via GUI QOS -> General -> Bandwidth

Hi Ulrich,

You are able to configure the stack port speed

Log to the cli

stack native s1-s2-xg

Then you can specify

1g to be 1 gig

5g to be 5g

xg for the 10g

auto for auto negotiate

I hope this satisfies your question.

Well what im looking for is to control the traffic generated at the 10gb Server ports, maybe limiting here the traffic to 6gig because in event of sync between servers if these can comunicate @10gig they will saturate the stacking ports and the clients at gigabit ports will have perfomance issues...

one question: all the 4 10gig ports are sfp+ so i can use them with a dac cable?
