Hi all.

I'm having trouble confighuring and make it work a small businness SG500 with a sfp transceiver.

We had two old Catalist 1900 C.They were connected throw their 100BASEFX Port.

One of them stop to work.

The client buy as replacement an SG500 + cisco MFEFX1SFP and we are having problem to make it work.

Firstable: the two switch may communicate in this configuration?

IN the small businnes i can see the sfp is recognized correctly, the show a green ligth on one of two led but on cisco1900 no ligth at all.

This is the actual conf of 1900 are:

Catalyst 1900 - Port A Configuration

         Built-in 100Base-FX

802.1d STP State:  Forwarding     Forward Transitions:  278

      --------------------Settings------------------

      [D] Description/name of port

      [S] Status of port                              Enabled

      [F] Full duplex                                 Disabled

[I] Port priority (spanning tree)               128 (80 hex)

[C] Path cost (spanning tree)                   10

[H] Port fast mode (spanning tree)              Disabled

Catalyst 1900 - Port B Configuration

         Built-in 100Base-TX

802.1d STP State:  Blocking     Forward Transitions:  0

      --------------------Settings------------------

      [D] Description/name of port

      [S] Status of port                              Suspended-no-linkbeat

      [F] Full duplex                                 Disabled

[I] Port priority (spanning tree)               128 (80 hex)

[C] Path cost (spanning tree)                   10

[H] Port fast mode (spanning tree)              Disabled

Could be these conf be the problem?

Any one could help me or giove me hints to go aout of this troubles?

Besta regards,

I'm only guessing, but I would try full duplex on the 1900.  I would also try to hard code the port on the new switch to 100Full as I am pretty sure it defaults to 1000 and will probably not auto negotiate to the 1900 with the setting you show.
