4500-X switches in VSS mode

Hi All,

We have a couple of 4500-X switches in VSS mode that would need a routine maintenance reboot. We plan to reboot both the chassis together and bring them back to the same state as before. What are the commands that need to be executed from the active VSS switch in order to complete the reboot of both switches (VSS active and VSS standby) and bring them back to the same state in the most optimized way ?

Regards,

KB

I suggest the below steps : (in maintenance window)

1. back-up the configuration out of the box.

2.  check the #sh switch virtual" or "#sh redundancy states".

3. reload command from master - which reload the whole VSS  ( as you looking both to reboot)   - which you have complete network offline until whole VSS comes back online.

if you like to switch over only 1 kit at a time.

VSS to switchover from Standby to Active, with this command "#redundancy force-switchover".

What firmware are the pair running on?

They are running Version 03.10.02.E with SSO as the redundancy mode.

The "reload" command is enough to reboot both pairs simultaneously.
