Catalyst 1200 and Catalyst 1000 for 802.1x setup

All,

We haven't used any Cisco products in the last 10 years and its my 1st attempt to get the right product for our environment. I am hoping if you could advise me if the choices i have made would work as expected in my environment.

Couple of Cisco C1200-48T-4X Catalyst 1200 Series 48-Port to work in active/ standby mode in L3 mode. A few of the Cisco C1000-48T-4X-L Catalyst 48-Port Layer 2 acting as access switches for the clients. We have a Sophos firewall in our existing network.

We have a new requirement to segregate the existing network into VLAN's.

One such requirement is for my desktop VLAN requiring 802.1x . All my desktops currently are protected using bitlocker and they use network unlock feature to contact the WDS server on pre-bootup so it can authenticate without using the bitlocker pin and relies on the certificate installed on the desktop.

Is this feature available in C1000-48T-4X switches, so

1. Desktops go into a separate vlan during pre-boot and contact only the WDS server

2. When the desktops are fully booted they go into the normal data vlan network

3. If 802.1x feature does fail, can it go back to MAC address based authentication

4. Can i use MAC address based authentication for my printers and other terminals for 802.1x

I would like to know if these features are available on C1000-48T-4X-L, so i can go ahead. Any advise on this setup will be appreciated.

Items we are looking at is

L2 -

C1000-48T-4X-L

L3 - either of

C1300-48T-4X
C1200-48T-4X
